The OB-150EF builds on the classic pre-war inspired design of the OB-150 while adding a feature that truly sets it apart: 24 frets. The “EF” stands for Extrta Frets, giving players a full three-octave range and expanded access to notes higher up the neck.
Unlike a standard banjo, the OB-150EF’s longer neck moves the bridge closer to the center of the head while maintaining the same scale length and string tension as a traditional banjo. This means it feels familiar in your hands but produces a warmer, rounder tone with excellent clarity up the neck. The added frets also provide more room for melodic playing and open up new possibilities when using a capo.
Built in true Bluegrass fashion, the OB-150EF features a three-ply maple rim, one-piece flange, maple neck with traditional inlay, and a brass flathead tone ring for the powerful crack and projection players expect. A smooth satin finish completes the look and feel.
